"10 Hopefull Thoughts About the Future of Journalism" is really interesting!! Why? Because as a Journalism and Technical Communication major, I learned Journalism as somewhat of the opposite of what the author, David Beard, says about Journalism.
When I saw this--and read it of course--the first thing I thought of was, Technical Communication. Now Journalism can be classified as part of Technical Communcation and also can't be for some.
Anybody can play? Why? People major and get degrees in this stuff. Why is Journalism changing into a job/career/way that doesn't even require higher learning?
This is a Technical Communication "job." Creating a web site is not journalism, it's technical communication. Journalism to me is, yes, technical communication, but requires reporting, interviewing, and actual written documents. TV broadcasting, magazines, and newspapers, those are my type of Journalism.
Some of Beard's thoughts could come true, like the personal interest idea. I like that because when I have an interest in a topic, I go all out on it and actually have a good story.
Embracing technology though? Yes, we are using web sites now for information, and The Torch even has a web site, but the classic newspaper is always the classic way journalism should always be leaning towards.
Journalism has changed, but hopefully not as far as some may think. It may be for the better, but then again it may lead to worse circumstances.

Project!!
Okay,
I have my project started with it's first blog on there!! I used WordPress for my project. I do wish I had the power to use Dreamweaver (I can't afford that, however) to create a sweet website for my project idea, but I will stick with a blog-type site for now as it is free and open for all to look at and comment on.
Here's the URL:

Enjoy!

Okay I Need Some Help With This...
I've been trying to figure out how to comment on our classmates blogs, and I can't seem to figure it out.
I have been following people, but I figured out that I believe I need a gmail account to comment back, is that correct?
Or can I just get on my blog, click on my followers, (which I can't seem to do), then comment?
I put in the URL for one of our classmates, and I couldn't comment.
If I need a gmail account that means I'd have to make a new blog right? I have a gmail account but don't know how to transfer this blog to that one, if you guys can help me figure out how to comment on each other's blogs please let me know so I can do it and get credit for it!!!!
Thanks...

TED
Well Mr. Clay Shirky is a pretty interesting fellow.
I liked his argument or point or opinion on how twitter, facebook, etc can change social networking; and I believe it!
People know what, when, and where other people are because of facebook and twitter online and on phones; there's no need to call people anymore!! Not only that, texting has taken over talking, and he was explaining all that in a better way than I could explain it.
I never thought I would text. I was like "oh I'm never going to text, I won't fall into that trendy trap." Looking back now, I was a total hypocrite because I love texting now, I text more than I talk on my phone.
I agree with Mr. Shirky; his presentation was interesting, moving, and agreeable on my part.

Project Advancement
Hey guys,
I'm sorry I haven't been on in a little while. The reason is, I'm working on the project!! I've decided to do my LGBTQA Opinions and Matters project on WordPress. I have a site for it on WordPress, but boy oh boy is it something I have to work on!
To me the WordPress is pretty "advanced." I didn't how much widgets I could put on my page, nor did I know some of the other things I'm still trying to figure out.
I think it's going to be pretty fun, but time consuming as I don't know how to use WordPress at all.
It's a great learning experience though!! I hope people will see my page and comment on it too; not just you guys, but other people around the world as well.
I'll be looking at everyone else's progress as soon as I can and give my opinions and comments.

Furthering my Project Planning
Okay, so I stated a couple blogs ago that I want to do Entertainment for my project. I'm now thinking of concentrating on more of a controversial topic; LGBTQA (Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgenders, Queers, and Allies) matters. I believe this to be a topic that everyone can talk about and express their opinions--good or bad--in multiple ways. As a person who is unknown of her sexuality, I wish to share that with people in a web site/blog and get people's opinions on that and on issues that occur all over the world pertaining to LGBTQA.
I don't know how this will turn out, but I always thought it would be something good to do to start a "movement" of opinions based on a matter that I care about.
I still don't know how I'm going to set it up yet, but I believe this is what my project will pertain.

Pressthink Weblog
The web site given to us is pretty interesting. Since I don't know too much about blogs, I thought it was just one long story. As I got further down I realized it's just random blogs about topics people want to share with their audience. I like blogs. I like looking at them now and just looking at the common or complete opposite subjects people talk about that I have or haven't thought about. They give their opinions, people respond back; that is a cool thing to do because it gets people to think and share their thoughts with people who care just as much about the topic as you do.
I noticed the web site was a journalists.nyu URL. If it's what I'm thinking, New York University?, then I think it would be cool if Ferris had their own blog that students can join. It would help students interact with other random students about topics they like or dislike.
